Tissue-Specific Transcripts And Genes (T-STAG) is an integrated query interface for comprehensive expression analysis using EST data. It can be used to analyze tissue/tumor-specificity of genes and transcripts of human and mouse data. Additionally, there is the opportunity to compare man-mouse orthologs for similar/differential expression patterns. The database comprises of the following datasets.
1) EST Data with tissue annotation (GeneNest).
2) p-values representing expression of genes in different tissues/tumors.
3) Genome-mapping and prediction of Splice variants (SpliceNest).
4) Prediction of tissue/tumor-specific alternative splicing.
5) Ortholog information based on man-mouse orthologous proteins.

Integration of the aforementioned data results in following opportunities...
1) Searching Genes:
- Expression pattern of a gene of interest.
- Genes with significant expression in a particular tissues.
- Genes with significant expression in one tissue AND/OR/NOT in another tissue.
- Genes with significant expression in one tissue AND/OR/NOT in other tissue, restricted by the total number of tissues in which the gene is expressed (specificity).
- Comparison of expression levels of orthologous gene pairs.
2) Searching Transcripts:
- Splice variants filtered by gene or by chromosomal location.
- Splice variants specific to particular tissue/tumors.
- Splice variants specific to particular tissue/tumors in genes which are mainly expressed in another tissue.
The following organisms can be analyzed.
